Each year, the AERA Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of education researchers and a showcase for groundbreaking, innovative studies in a diverse array of areas. AERA President Jeannie Oakes has

the AERA Distinguished Lecture and Wallace Foundation Distinguished Lecture speakers.
The
AERA Distinguished Lecture
will be given by
Linda Darling-Hammond
—Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education Emerita at Stanford University.
The
Wallace Foundation Distinguished Lecture
will be given by
Warren Simmons
—Fellow and Former Executive Director of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University.

Annual Meeting attendees can take advantage of a rich program of extended and mini professional development courses. This year’s 31-course lineup provides ample opportunities for attendees to train in research methods and skills, discover specialized research disciplines, address professional development issues, and much more. Several courses emphasize international scholarship, including three organized by the World Education Research Association. Check out

. The remaining events include "Response Abilities: Generating Arts-based Research with Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Martin Luther King" and "Fighting for the Right to the City: Community Organizing for Public Education in a Gentrifying D.C."
