AERA 

Membership 

AERA membership provides individuals in the field of education research with access to the latest developments and the top researchers in the field. In addition, AERA provides members with the opportunity to make a difference in education. AERA takes those issues that are most important to our members and brings them to the forefront of the public policy debate.

The AERA membership year runs on a calendar basis. New members who join in October – December will pay the regular dues rate, covering the period between January 1 and December 31 of the following year. Members who join during this time period will receive copies of Educational Researcher gratis through the end of the current year.

New members who join anytime between January 1 and September 30 will pay the regular dues rate, covering the period between January 1 and December 31 of the current year. Members who join during this time period will receive back issues of the appropriate journals.

Membership Rates 

Members (Voting) 

• Regular Members: Eligibility requires satisfactory evidence of active interest in educational research as well as professional training to at least the master's degree level or equivalent. $120/calendar-year.
• Graduate Student Members: Any graduate student may be granted graduate student member status with the endorsement of a voting member who is a faculty members at the student's university. Graduate Students who are employed full-time are not eligible. Graduate Student membership is limited to 5 years. $35/calendar-year.
• Emeritus Members: Upon retirement, anyone who has maintained active voting membership for the preceding 20 years is eligible for emeritus status, exempting them from dues. Emeritus membership cannot be applied for or renewed online. If you qualify for Emeritus status or would like to renew your Emeritus Membership, please contact the central office by email at members@aera.net or by phone on (202) 238-3200.

Affiliates (Non-Voting) 

• Affiliates: Persons interested in educational research who subscribe to the aims of the Association but do not qualify for voting membership may become associate members. No endorsement is needed. $120/calendar-year.
• Student Affiliates: Any student may be granted student affiliate status with the endorsement of a voting member who is a faculty members at the student's university. Students who are employed full-time are not eligible. Student membership is limited to 5 years. $35/calendar-year.
• International Affiliates: Citizens of countries other than the United States who are interested in educational research are eligible to join this category. An international affiliate who is qualified to become a voting member may do so at any time. $100/calendar-year.

Note: membership dues are non-refundable.
