Read the Educational Researcher (ER) Editors New Ambition for this Journal (PDF)
The May 2010 ER provides summary, commentary, and reflections on the National Early Literacy Panel Report. The nine contributors to this special issue have a long-standing commitment to the early literacy field; they also have broad-based research expertise, an understanding of early literacy practice, and a grasp of the ways in which policy reports, such as the NELP report, if left unexamined, can influence research and pedagogy with unintended consequences. The views of these authors as well as those of the panel are widely respected, and their insight is critical, particularly now as early literacy policy is taking shape on a national level.
The January-February 2010 ER focuses on new perspectives of school safety and violence prevention. This special issue, guest-edited by Dewey G. Cornell and Matthew J. Mayer, includes seven articles which address basic issues in school safety and examine the empirical knowledge base, provide syntheses of what we know, and identify future paths.
The October 2009 ER features a dialogue across perspectives on quality in education research.
